La Folie
My Food Review
I Located it at : 16, Commerce House, Next to Trishna Restaurant, Rope Walk Lane, Opp. Kala Ghoda Cafe, Fort, Mumbai
Visited on 02July, 2014
Cuisine Type : Desserts, Bakery
A luxury French boutique patisserie opened on 24th January, 2014 by the owner Parthesh Patel and his wife Chef Sanjana Patel who learned this art from Ecole Grégoire Ferrandi, one of the finest French pastry schools in the world . They have a bakery in Chandivali (Andheri East) where these finest desserts are baked.
Ambience & Area : At the ground level, a 10-12 seating space which was bright and fresh ambience. Wooden seating on one side and a dessert display on the other side which elaborated well each dessert. The picture frames of food photography added the charm to this place which is elegantly decorated with minimalist and modern interiors in tones of black, white and grey. There was a door which was the most colourful one having a black background with the logo in the centre and images of colourful donuts and chocolate baguettes were spaced all over.
Music & Entertainment : No music was played. It was a quite well lit bright place in the dull rope walk lane.
Food : Was really unable to decide for the first 5 mins what to order as everything looked tempting and attractive to my eyes.
Finally picked two one was GQ which is a Flourless Chocolate Cake, Spiced Cremeux with fresh raspberries & milk chocolate mouse (La Folie signature dessert designed by their French Pastry chef Gregory Quere)
The other was Opera Pistachio which is a Marzipan cake with fresh raspberry cremeux madagascar vinilla butter cream. Both the options were really amazing and mouthwatering, really sated by taste buds. Couldn't decide which one i liked the most.
Experience :Sweetness, crunchiness, texture, taste and aesthetic appeal which are the important ingredients for french pastries were seen. Creating intricate textures is an art that a French pastry which a chef tries to master and it was seen clearly with my sinful eyes to eat it all. Chef Sanjana uses only the finest ingredients and authentic preparation methods. La Folie specialises in sophisticated desserts made using techniques.
Hospitality : There was a lady managing the place along with a helper. They both knew about the details well when asked upon. The trivia i shared with you in my review is partly by the knwoledge i gained from her. They gave us a warm welcome and were helpful.
Will Return ? : Would recommend all my friends and would love to visit again and again. It justifies its name La folie which is a state of temporary unbalance, as with great excitement when one would visit.
Overall Experience : 4/5
Food Love level : 5/5
