Two One Two Bar and Grill
My Food Review on Two One Two Bar and Grill
I Located it at :12 A, Ground Floor, Hornby Vellard Estate, Opposite Nehru Centre, Worli, Mumbai
Cuisine Type : Italian, Mediterranean
Two One Two Bar and Grill - is Opposite Nehru Planetarium, Worli. In the address it shows Nehru Center which can also be mistaken as Nehru Science Center, Worli. This should be definitely rectified in the posted address.
I wished to visit here since a long time and finally did. I had booked a table of 7.45 pm. The entire restaurant was empty at this time. It felt as if i had booked the entire restaurant for myself. It was a warm welcome. We had a choice to select our table but an entourage of waitstaff escorted us to our plush sofa chairs from where the entire restaurant could be seen.
Area & Ambience : The area is approximately 4,000 sq ft. The entrance had greens around and there were numbers on the wall around the door area. When i entered it was my favourite caliginous ambience.. The bar was near to the entrance. Two one Two is divided into a bar area and a larger, elevated dining space, with a small flight of stairs demarcating the two. The restaurant is furnished with dark grey smooth granite tables, dark wood floors, rust coloured fabric walls with shades of red and white which gave a passionate & romantic feeling. The tables were spaciously laid with soft cushioned & comfortable chairs in red & white. There was a big round table for big groups in one of the corners where there was also a wine cellar.. It was almost empty and could not see many wine bottles stacked up.
Music : They Played some awesome soft lounge music which was very soothing. It had its own charm and took me into an altogether different mood.
Food : They served us a bread platter with two types spreads (one was tomato based with heavy garlic flavour and the other was butter based and very subtle).
We had six course meal :
COURSE ONE - Amuse Bouche which consisted of Spinach and thin sliced beetroot tossed in perfection, a little tangy in taste, cold & very light to eat;
COURSE TWO : American Corn Soup (Jalapeno sour cream, truffle butter) it was served in mini tea cups with saucer and i loved the blend of Sour Cream & Jalapeno;
COURSE THREE : Wild Mushroom Parcels (V) (Wrapped in Phyllo pastry, Parmesan cheese fondue, baby arugula) which were very light to eat and there were 4 Parcels and each parcel was crispy and small sized, one can eat in a bite which melts in your mouth... Also we had called for Cumin & Sesame Marinated Chicken Skewers (Cucumber labneh, taboulleh salad) there were three Chicken Skewers and the Chicken was juicy soft & succulent. i preferred the Chicken Skewers over the Wild Mushroom Parcels;
COURSE FOUR : Mini Pizza: Margherita (V) and Mini Pizza: Chorizo. It was a 7 inch thin crust pizza divided into two halves one half was Margherita and the other half was Chorizo. The Margherita was overly herbed which made it slightly spicy due to which we could not taste its basic ingredients i.e. Basil Cheese and with Tomato base and Chorizo was also very spicy. It is a tomato based pizza with cheese, Finely sliced onions, & Pork. On request they got it re-made for us. The re-made was quite satisfactory;
COURSE FIVE : Angel Hair (V) (Ear wood mushrooms, extra virgin olive oil, chilly, garlic, fresh basil) It was Curator Recommendation but i dint like it. It is spaghetti based but it was very dry and bland, Nowhere i could taste the chilly, garlic or fresh basil flavours. The second mains we called for was Garlic Chilly Prawns (Brandy infused bisque seafood risotto,truffle butter scallop) which was again a Curator Recommendation, the prawns dint have the garlic chilly taste they were so bland and raw. The risotto had an overpowering taste of prawns. Hence both the mains dissatisfied my taste buds.
Lastly COURSE SIX : Chocolate Fondant which consisted of a chocolate bomb which is melted chocolate in a thin layered skin along with a scoop of Vanilla Ice Cream filled in a crispy thin edible flour cup served in a wide rectangular plate. The taste of slightly dark bitter chocolate was awesome . The second dessert we called for was Panna Cotta which was served in a plate in two shot glasses. It had a layer of crisp caramel. The Panna Cotta was not very extravagant. The meal overall was delightful.
Usually we get some cookies, sweet or Mouth - fresheners post meal but here i dint find any.
Hospitality : The Manager & Staff was friendly. When we ordered they started getting the courses very quickly, so i had to instruct them to get it slowly so we could relish each course peacefully and enjoy every bite of it. Towards the end after the bill was paid we were yet sitting on our table for five extra minutes and the manager said we have a waiting so please co-operate. This irked me to an extent. Usually in hospitality the staff or manager is not supposed to say anything like this. Its like an insult to the visitor. It leaves a bad impression.
Portion of the Meal : One portion was too small and not so filling.
Price : Very Expensive
Will Return ? : Would definitely return
Overall Experience : Great Food, Good Crowd, Good Ambience, Good Music.
Burp Level : 3.5/5
