Vicinia

My Food Review on Vicinia

I Locate it at : Ground Floor, Chinoy Mansion, Near Gangar Opticians,Kemps Corner, Mumbai

Cuisine Type : European, American

A restaurant located at Kemps Corner when we entered the restaurant, there was no one to greet us.

Ambience & Area : At the ground level there is a dessert display with few tables & the Bar. Mezzanine floor where there is a low soft looking ceiling in black but isn't and one has to bend and go ahead which makes one feel a little uncomfortable. If avoided you surely get a bang on your head just like me unknowingly. The limited space has been well utilized with eight tables for four having both sofa & chair on each and few 2 seaters. Its caliginous ambience with yellow dim lights hold on the charm with shades of the Logo which is Black & white is used all over. There are artworks of places in South Mumbai on one wall & the other wall is left untouched with red baked bricks finish. Looking at the ambience it looked like a nice small dating place.

Music & Entertainment : There was soft romantic music being played initially but after 9 pm it got louder and lounge & dance music was played. There is an LCD as well.

Food :
> Black Current Ice Tea : It was a perfect Blend a little bit pulp was tasted which i quite liked.
>Ceaser Salad with Chicken : which was served with Mayo. it looked tempting but when i tasted it was dry. They had forgotten to add the ingredients i guess. There was No Parmesan cheese at all, No olive oil, Artichokes, No white wine vinegar, The Chicken was not very soft and smelled a bit. I had to return it and explain the recipe to them. I was really upset.
> Veg Lasagne : It looked extremely dry. A Lasagne is supposed to be moist juicy with a good proportion of cheese but again all my excitement was in vain. The veges were overcooked/ over baked tasted slimy.
>Stuffed Chicken : It was said it would be stuffed with Parmesan Cheese & Spinach with braised chicken. Now my temper was gone as the stuffing did not have even a tinch of cheese flavour and the spinach was raw with no taste. The chicken was too hard & not at all juicy, luckily it didn't have the peculiar smell this time. I had to now return this dish and get it re-done or cancel. Finally the manager comes upstairs to check what was the issue. He promised us to get it done once again which took 30 mins, previously it came within 15 mins of order placed. This time there was a bit of cheese tasted but rest was the same.
> Chocolate Fantasy : Lastly we thought to order a dessert which would get a happy ending to our meal. But no they dint want that. It was very sticky gooey. Though it was not very very bad but average in taste. It was overly priced Rs. 300 i felt that they had charged us for all the dishes we returned. Even La Patisserie serves at a lesser cost and awesome freshly made desserts at half the price which is worth it.

When it comes to An Italian Affair i expect lots of good quality & variety of cheese.

Hospitality : The Manager dint even bother to ask us later & never felt sorry for what we were served. The servers were naive but friendly and soft spoken, we were take care of.

Will Return ? : Never and recommend not to go. Overall Experience was bad and spoilt my dinner & mood.

Rating : I am giving the rating for its Ambience, Music & Location.

Burp level : 1.5/5
